SDONA offers a limited number of tailored seminars each year to organizations who wish to bring in SDONA instructors to teach a seminar.  These are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are also based on instructor availability.  If you are interested in hosting a SDONA event, please review the two options below and contact us as soon as possible to discuss your needs for a seminar.  We can only offer a limited number of seminars each year, so don't delay!

Options for Hosting a SDONA Training Event

Option 1:  SDONA Organizes  Event
  • SDONA manages all registration, payment, and communications with participants.
  • SDONA staff creates a budget for the seminar based on expenses for trainers (travel, lodging, meals during seminar, etc..), equipment/supplies, and meals for participants.
  • SDONA sets the seminar fee and the minimum/maximum number of participants based on the budget and instructor availability.
  • SDONA works with the local host to promote and advertise the event
  • Local hosts provide SDONA with a list of at least 2-3 lodging options that are pet friendly and a reasonable cost for participants.
  • Local hosts manage the local event logistics, including meals on site for each day of the seminar.  Meals must fall within the agreed-upon budget.  Local logistics include securing the training venue(s), relevant classroom space, technology as needed, and any related equipment.
  • Local hosts will provide at least one helper per instructor that is not a participant to assist the instructor(s) with various tasks.
  • All financial loss or gain from the seminar belongs exclusively to SDONA.
Option 2:  Local Host Organizes Event
  • Local hosts assume all responsibility for promoting and managing the seminar.  This includes the following:
    • creating a budget
    • setting the registration fee
    • setting the maximum and minimum number of participants
    • managing registration
    • communicating with participants
    • securing all local training venues and relevant classroom space with technology
    • managing seminar logistics including lunch on site
  • SDONA provides one instructor per six students at a fee of $700 per instructor plus all expenses (travel, lodging, meals)
    • Teams may request a specific SDONA instructor(s) but SDONA can't guarantee that instructor will be available.
    • Specific instructor(s) will be shared with the team prior to any formal seminar announcement so that a decision can be made about proceeding with the event.
  • SDONA will promote the seminar via their networks if the local host so desires
  • All financial loss or gain from the seminar belongs exclusively to the local host.
For more information or to request a SDONA event under either option, please email SDONA.
